Amnesty sees “long list” of human rights violations in Austria – domestic

The human rights organization Amnesty International’s assessment of the development of human rights in Austria is not particularly positive. And in fact there were a few events in this country last year that cast a questionable light on the actions of authorities and politicians. When the highest level of asylum applications was reached in autumn, the federal government set up tents in several federal states due to a lack of accommodation in order to accommodate asylum seekers there – sometimes even in freezing temperatures. Cases of inadmissible police violence occurred particularly at political rallies. And the internal investigations were still not very transparent.
