“Amorous Couple Disables Traffic Light in Erfurt: Police Respond to Surprise Them”

A couple in a car disabled a traffic light in the eastern German city of Erfurt – until the police arrived. The officers noticed on Friday night that a car with fogged up windows had been standing in the middle of the street at a traffic light for a long time, the police said on Sunday evening. The police officers decided to look following the right – “and surprised the two loving vehicle occupants,” as it was said.

The couple was “visibly embarrassed by the situation,” the police from the Thuringian state capital stated in their broadcast. The vehicle occupants reported that they might no longer hold back their desire for each other because the traffic light was broken and no longer wanted to switch. However, they had triggered the long red phase themselves: the driver had driven too far forward at the demand-controlled traffic light, so that it showed “red” permanently. After paying a fine, the couple resumed driving. The amount involved was not disclosed.
