Anthropic Expands in India: New Office, Partnerships & Revenue Growth

Anthropic opened its first office in Bengaluru, India, on Monday, signaling a significant escalation in the artificial intelligence firm’s expansion within the country and across Asia. The move accompanies new partnerships with Air India and Cognizant, designed to accelerate the adoption of Anthropic’s AI technologies.

Air India will utilize Claude Code, Anthropic’s AI coding agent, to develop custom software solutions, while Cognizant plans to deploy the agent to its 350,000 employees globally to modernize existing legacy systems, according to a company statement. Anthropic co-founder Dario Amodei noted that India’s adoption of AI is “even more extreme compared with the rest of the world,” and highlighted the potential for large-scale experimentation within the country.

The Bengaluru office represents Anthropic’s second location in Asia, following the opening of an office in Tokyo in October. Irina Ghose, managing director of Anthropic India, stated that India offers “one of the world’s most promising opportunities to bring the benefits of responsible AI to vastly more people and enterprises.” The company intends to focus on serving Indian startups and enterprises in sectors including education and agriculture, assisting them in building AI models.

Anthropic’s expansion into India comes as the company experiences rapid revenue growth within the region. Run-rate revenue from India has doubled since October 2025, with the country now accounting for nearly half of Claude’s usage for computer and mathematical tasks, such as application development and system modernization.

The company recently secured $30 billion in Series G funding, valuing it at $380 billion, with participation from investors including Abu Dhabi-based MGX, GIC, Coatue, DE Shaw Ventures, Dragoneer, Founders Fund, and Iconiq.

Several Indian companies have already begun integrating Claude into their operations. Razorpay utilizes the AI in its risk systems, while Enterpret and Emergent leverage it for AI assistants, with Emergent reporting rapid growth to $25 million in annual recurring revenue. Cred has reported a two-fold increase in feature delivery speed and a 10% improvement in test coverage through the use of Claude Code.

The announcement coincided with the AI Impact event in New Delhi, a major global gathering focused on policy and investment innovation in the field of artificial intelligence. Anthropic intends to engage with policymakers and potential enterprise partners, demonstrating a long-term commitment to the Indian market.
