The arrest warrant for Funes is related to the judicial process that is presented to the former Minister of Defense, David Munguía Payés, for the crimes of illegal groups, arbitrary acts and breach of duties, which were allegedly committed. within the framework of the so-called “Truce with a gang.
Munguía Payés was arrested on July 23, but days later he was released on parole because the court considered that he requires medical attention.
Prosecutor Melara said on that occasion that both Funes and Munguía Payés were the ones who “led and carried out this issue of a pact between gangs” and that in the case of the ex-president due to his status as a fugitive, the charge will be accumulated.
This is the sixth judicial arrest warrant that Funes has been added to. The others are for the case of corruption, public looting, alleged bribes of former prosecutor Luis Martínez, the revelation of the ROS for the donation from Taiwan, the El Chaparral case, and tax evasion.
