Antwerp makes short work of Ostend and joins Union Saint-Gilloise in the final of the Belgian Cup

Antwerp qualified for the final of the Belgian Cup thanks to its victory once morest KV Ostend (3-0), this Thursday during the semi-final match between the defending champion and the resident of D2.

The final of the Belgian Cup will therefore see Union Saint-Gilloise face Antwerp at the Stade Roi Baudouin on May 7 (or May 20, if the Brussels residents reach the semi-final of the Conference League).

The Great Oldforced to share (1-1) at the coast in the first leg, quickly made the difference via its young Franco-Nigerian attacker George Ilenikhenawho struck from close range at the entrance to the small rectangle following a mix-up following an Antwerp corner (16′ 1-0).

Ten minutes later, it’s the central defender Zeno Van Den Bosch who, with a powerful header, doubled the lead following receiving a free kick (26′ 2-0).

Antwerp then came very close to 3-0 on several occasions, but had to wait until the end of the match to see a triple thanks to George Ilenikhenaonce once more (88′ 3-0).

KV Ostend, unable to react, left the competition following a very good run which saw it eliminate several Pro League teams.
