His transfer last summer from Tottenham to Al-Duhail surprised many people, but the defender does not regret his choice.
“We had a decent season, and honestly, the level of competition is good, the championship has taken several steps. Of course, it’s not the Premier League, or even the Belgian championship. Finally, I can’t not really compare, since I’ve never played in the first team here! I think I made the right choice, mainly for my family life. With Tottenham, we played a lot of matches, I was often gone. Now it’s less the case. It was time for me to think more regarding my family than my career, I have two young children. This departure is especially special for my parents: they have followed me throughout my career, now they can’t see my matches anymore!”
