Anwarul Haq Kakar: Temporary Prime Minister of Pakistan till Next Elections

Islamabad – Anwarul Haq Kakar has been chosen as the caretaker prime minister of Pakistan till the next general elections.

Kakar’s appointment follows a discussion between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Leader of Opposition Raja Riaz Ahmed. Kakar (52), a Pashtun, is the leader of the Balochistan Awami Party. A member of the Senate since 2018, Kakar is one of the best political leaders.

According to the Constitution of Pakistan, the prime minister must discuss with the leader of the opposition before the term of the National Assembly expires and appoint a caretaker prime minister. After this, elections should be held within 90 days. As per the decision of the Election Commission, the election may be extended at times.
