In light of the tensions between Lebanon and Israel following Hezbollah launched marches over Karish, President of the Republic Michel Aoun affirmed that “the results of the demarcation will be positive for the interests of both parties,” noting that “if the atmosphere was not positive, we would not have followed the negotiation process.”
In an interview with “OTV” today, Wednesday, Aoun indicated that “the results of the tour of Minister of Energy and Water Walid Fayyad regarding the import of gas from Egypt and electricity from Jordan are positive.”
Regarding the ship, which is said to be operating in the Karish field, Aoun said: “As far as I know, I don’t know what happened at night when they went to the drones.”
Aoun affirmed that, “I can say that the period that separates us from a solution to the issue of border demarcation has become short, and I think that we are on the verge of understanding with the Americans who are mediating between Lebanon and Israel, but I do not know the exact time for this solution. I think that we will reach a solution that satisfies everyone.” Regarding the atmosphere in the negotiations, Aoun indicated that, “Of course, they are positive, otherwise we would have stopped the negotiations.”
Aoun concluded by saying: “We have set the framework of understanding that we want, and on this basis, we are discussing with others.”
