Apple’s Tax Dispute with the EU: Potential 13 Billion Euro Payment and Legal Recommendation

In the tax dispute with the European Union (EU), Apple is threatened with an additional payment of 13 billion euros. Due to technical deficiencies, Attorney General Giovanni Pitruzzella recommended to the European Court of Justice (ECJ) on Thursday that it overturn a judgment in favor of the US group and refer it back to the lower court. The court is not bound by this recommendation, but follows it in four out of five cases.
