ARC Raiders: Shrouded Sky Update – Hurricane, Beards & 2026 Content Plan

by Sophie Lin - Technology Editor

ARC Raiders is bracing for a major update, Shrouded Sky, set to launch on February 24, 2026, bringing with it a challenging new map condition and a highly requested feature: beard customization. Developer Embark Studios is continuing its post-launch support for the extraction shooter, adding substantial content following a solid initial release in late October 2025.

The Shrouded Sky update introduces the “Hurricane” map condition to the Rust Belt region, fundamentally altering raid approaches. Powerful winds will impact projectile trajectories, including grenades, and hurl debris into the environment, challenging player shields. Visibility will be significantly reduced, making both ARC enemies and other players harder to spot, while simultaneously revealing previously hidden caches from the First Wave, offering the potential for valuable loot. The update aims to create a more dynamic and unpredictable gameplay experience.

Beyond the environmental hazards, the update addresses a long-standing community request. The trailer for Shrouded Sky showcased a Raider sporting a beard, confirming the addition of facial hair customization options. This feature has been notably absent since the game’s launch, setting it apart from other Embark Studios titles like The Finals, which already offers such personalization.

The Shrouded Sky update isn’t solely focused on weather and appearances. Embark Studios plans to introduce new ARC enemies, a new Project, and a new Raider Deck. Adjustments to existing maps are also planned, though details remain scarce. The trailer hints at a developing narrative, with a character named Celeste seemingly experiencing communication issues, raising questions about her fate.

Hurricane Map Condition: A New Level of Challenge

The Hurricane condition promises a significant shift in ARC Raiders gameplay. Players will need to adapt to strong winds that affect movement – running with the storm provides a slight speed boost, while running against it slows stamina depletion. Throwables, like gas grenades and trailblazers, will also behave differently in the turbulent conditions. Players will need to balance the risk of increased visibility with the reward of uncovering hidden caches. As IGN reports, the update aims to deliver the most dangerous weather the game has faced yet.

Beard Customization: A Community Win

The inclusion of beard customization is a direct response to player feedback. For months, the ARC Raiders community has requested the ability to personalize their Raiders’ appearances beyond the options available at launch. The confirmation, visible in the Shrouded Sky trailer, has been met with enthusiasm online, as noted in a Reddit post on r/PS5. While the extent of the customization options remains unknown, the addition signals a commitment from Embark Studios to listen to its player base.

What Else is Coming in Shrouded Sky?

Embark Studios’ roadmap for 2026 indicates that Shrouded Sky offers more than just the Hurricane condition and beard customization. Players can expect new ARC enemies to challenge their strategies, a new Project to undertake, and a new Raider Deck to expand their tactical options. The trailer also suggests a deepening narrative, with questions arising about the fate of Celeste. ARC Raiders launched on October 30, 2025, and has received a generally positive critical reception, achieving a score of 87/100 on OpenCritic and a 93% recommendation rate. Developed using Unreal Engine 5, the game emphasizes evolving map conditions and continuous progression. The Shrouded Sky update represents a significant step in that evolution, promising both environmental challenges and a greater degree of player personalization.

The February 24th launch of Shrouded Sky is poised to intensify raids in ARC Raiders. For many players, however, the real storm may be a welcome change to their Raider’s appearance.
