Arc Raiders: Wolfpack Grenade Nerf Sparks Player Outcry in New Update

Arc Raiders players are voicing their frustration after a recent update, dubbed “Shrouded Sky,” significantly altered the crafting requirements for the popular Wolfpack grenade. While the update introduced new challenges like hurricane map conditions and two new ARC enemy types – the Firefly and the Comet – it’s the change to this powerful piece of equipment that’s dominating player discussion.

The February 24th update, version 1.17.0, increased the resources needed to craft a Wolfpack, a throwable that unleashes a barrage of homing explosives. Previously a relatively accessible tool, the Wolfpack now requires one Rocketeer Driver in addition to two Arc motion cores and an explosive compound. This change has sparked concern within the Arc Raiders community, as Rocketeer Drivers are notoriously difficult to obtain.

The core of the issue lies in the scarcity of Rocketeer Drivers. The most reliable method for acquiring this component is by defeating a Rocketeer, a task that, ironically, often requires the use of two Wolfpacks. This creates a frustrating loop for players, effectively demanding they expend resources to acquire the resources needed to create more resources.

The alteration falls in line with broader adjustments to resource requirements in the update, impacting the crafting recipes for the Deadline mine, Trailblazer, Showstopper, and Vita Spray. However, it’s the Wolfpack nerf that has drawn the most intense criticism from Raiders.

Players have taken to social media to express their discontent. One Reddit user quipped, “Let me just kill a rocketeer to get 1 wolfpack that can half kill another rocketeer.” Another player simply stated, “I don’t even want the blueprint anymore.” Concerns extend to the potential impact on gameplay, with one X/Twitter user warning, “First time I’ve said this but if they preserve going in this direction people will stop playing. It’s hard enough to gather some of these resources.”

Doesn’t quite add up

The Wolfpack’s effectiveness in Player versus Environment (PvE) combat is a key reason for the backlash. The grenade excels at clearing out swarms of smaller ARC enemies and quickly stripping the armor from larger threats like the Matriarch, Queen, Leaper, and Bastion. Its utility makes it a staple for many Raiders.

Some players acknowledge the previous recipe was relatively lenient, but many are calling for adjustments to address the new imbalance. Suggestions include increasing the drop rate of Rocketeer Drivers or reducing the number required to craft a Wolfpack. “If rocketeers start consistently dropping more than 1x driver, we can talk,” one player proposed. Another added, “They need to up the drop odds on drivers. Right now you’re lucky if you get two. Make two the base with higher odds of 3+. Otherwise wolfpacks will basically just be used when looted on the map.”

While the Wolfpack controversy dominates the conversation, the Shrouded Sky update also introduces several other changes. These include map updates for Dam Battlegrounds, the aforementioned new ARC threats, and even cosmetic additions like playable pianos and facial hair customization. Embark CEO Patrick Söderlund recently discussed the studio’s commitment to player feedback and continued development of Arc Raiders in an interview with IGN.

The update launched on February 24, 2026, and players are continuing to explore the new content and assess the impact of the Wolfpack changes. It remains to be seen how Embark will respond to the community’s concerns and whether further adjustments will be made to resource requirements. The studio’s willingness to listen to player feedback will likely be crucial in maintaining momentum for Arc Raiders.
