Parental leave and parental part-time work are still mostly taken up by women, as current surveys show: In eight out of ten couples in Austria, the father does not go on parental leave and never receives childcare allowance, according to the 2021 re-entry monitoring of the Chamber of Labor. According to Statistics Austria, there are also still men who mainly work full-time. Their part-time rate is almost twelve percent, while that of women is almost 50 percent.
