Addressing the Medical Gap with Senior Doctors

According to a statement from Gyeongbuk Province on the 15th, the Senior Medical Recruitment Support Project, promoted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare and the National Medical Center, will see the recruitment of 16 senior doctors. These doctors, aged 60 or older, will receive an employment subsidy of 10 million won for six months.

Participating medical institutions, including Pohang Medical Center, Gimcheon Medical Center, and Andong Medical Center, will be able to recruit or retain experienced doctors. The project targets doctors with extensive experience in university hospitals or general hospitals, aiming to enhance the expertise of local medical institutions.

Enhancing Local Medical Expertise

Senior doctors, with their rich experience and competence, are expected to bring innovative medical technology and experience to local institutions. This will not only improve the quality of care but also provide invaluable field education opportunities for young doctors, fostering a new generation of skilled medical professionals.

Ongoing Commitment to Medical Personnel

Gyeongbuk Province is committed to securing medical personnel and improving local public service quality. The province is promoting various projects, including ‘medical personnel labor cost support projects’ and ‘local public hospital dispatched medical labor cost support project,’ amounting to 25.3 billion won in public health-related initiatives.

Yoo Jung-geun, Director of Welfare and Health, Gyeongbuk Province, emphasized the importance of the senior doctor recruitment support projects in solving the local medical personnel shortage.
