Public Service Commission Accelerates Healthcare Worker Appointments

Ipoh, Malaysia – The Public Service Commission is progressing with the appointment of healthcare professionals, specifically doctors and nurses, in a phased and systematic approach, it was announced Today. the commission assures swift action to address staffing needs within the public healthcare system.

Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Jailani Muhamed Yunus, Chairman of the Public Service Commission, confirmed that the process of appointments has been underway with interim placements preceding complete permanent assignments. He emphasized a commitment to expediting the appointment procedures as directed by the government.

Permanent Positions for Contract Doctors

The announcement comes amidst ongoing discussion regarding the permanent employment of 4,500 contract doctors, a commitment unveiled by Prime minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim during the presentation of Budget 2026. The Commission has already finalized permanent appointments for over 3,000 nurses, encompassing both new hires and confirmations of those previously in interim roles.

According to officials, there are currently no set stipulations regarding the length of service required for permanent positions. Candidates who meet the established criteria will be directly appointed, and interim appointments will transition to permanent status upon accomplished completion of assessments and adherence to commission regulations.

National Service Program Incentive

The opening of a new interview center at the Ipoh Urban Conversion Center (UTC) aims to streamline the civil service intake process within Perak. The center will not only host official interviews but also provide consultative services and accurate information to applicants and the general public.
