At 15, the swimmer licensed in Fréjus Lilian Schlienger adorns himself with gold in the French team

His goal was to join the French junior team as quickly as possible. It’s done for Lilian Schlienger, licensed in the swimming section of the Multi-sports and Leisure Association of Fréjus (AMSLF), who has just had his first selection for the French team. And the least we can say is that he wasted no time? with two podiums from its first outing in blue white red.

At the Mediterranean Swimming Confederation Cup (Comen) which has just taken place in Larissa, Greece, Jérémy Mortier’s pupil won the relay in the 4x100m medley and took a good second place with his teammates in the 4x50m 4 mixed strokes. Individually, he was sixth in the 100m butterfly and tenth in the 200m medley.

Last competition of the season

“He was keen to succeed with the team and bet everything on the relays. It was a little more complicated individually, even if he was doing his usual time in 100 pap”, analyzes Hélène Martinache, technical and sports director of the swimming section of the AMSLF, a section chaired by Xavier Tranchant.

A pupil of the Camus high school in Fréjus, Lilian, who is only fifteen years old, trains under the leadership of Jérémy Mortier, at the rate of nine sessions a week. The season will continue for him with the France Open championships, which will take place in Poitiers in mid-July.

He will be accompanied by Dina Rahal, his young teammate from the AMSLF. “Poitiers will be the last national competition of the season, in the presence of all the big clubs in France”, adds Hélène Martinache. “We will debrief the Comen with Lilian in order to set goals. For Dina, it will be regarding running over unusual distances, getting out of the sprint.”
