At least 15 unclaimed bodies would be decomposing in Legal Medicine of Santa Marta

The Follow-up.co journalistic team learned that currently officials and residents of the area where the headquarters of Legal Medicine is located in Santa Marta, have presented their complaints regarding the strong odors that are occurring, product of the decomposition of several corpses.

Damage to the refrigeration chambers has generated problems in the entity, which is doing everything possible to fix the damage as soon as possible.

However, it is not easy, considering that there are currently around 15 bodies that have not been claimed by any relatives, and many of them have been classified as ‘NN’.

From the entity they have made a call so that in an articulated work with the local government, the determined route is activated for the bodies that have not been claimed and to be able to dispose of the corpses.

Likewise, it is expected to speed up the procedures in the delivery of corpses, which, lacking the necessary documentation, must wait for the result of a DNA test, as is the case of the relatives of the young man murdered in the San Pablo neighborhood last week. .
