A 55-year-old triggered an avalanche in Zallingraben in Mauterndorf (Lungau) on Saturday followingnoon.
The Carinthian had driven into a gully in the Großeck-Speiereck ski area in open terrain off the piste. Above him a slab of snow came loose. The skier was able to get to safety in time and was not buried. The Salzburg police reported that no one else was injured in the avalanche.
