The government is moving towards legalizing the use of “electric scooters”, following they have spread to the streets and alleys of all the cities of the Kingdom
As a result, Mr. Mohamed Abdeljalil, Minister of Transport and Logistics, declared that the ministry is in the process of legalizing the use of this type of electric bicycle, or what is called “Trotinette”, with its owners, subject to the infringements mentioned in the highway code and compulsory numbering.
The Minister specified that this approach aims to register the electric bicycle in the category of motorized motorcycles, to determine its maximum dimensions and its technical characteristics, and to determine the method and conditions of its homologation according to the type or the documents that must be attached to the application for approval.
In addition to the intention of these modifications, the Minister specifies how these vehicles will be registered and numbered, the traffic rules on the roads, the insurance conditions, etc.
