Austria pledges two million euros to Ukraine for demining equipment – Ukraine

2023-05-27 16:00:00

In the past few days, Austria only had to serve as a size comparison. The British Ministry of Defense wrote on Twitter that an area twice the size of Austria was contaminated by ordnance residues or mined in Ukraine, a total of 30 percent of the Ukrainian land area. In fact, with around 250,000 square kilometers, it is an area more than three times the size of Austria. Of course, it is not known whether the debate in London was heard in this country or whether the comparison was chosen by chance. But now the federal government is trying to play a more active role once more and so they want to make two million euros available to the war-torn Ukraine and its population from the Foreign Ministry’s Foreign Disaster Fund (AKF). This is intended to finance demining equipment for Ukraine.
