Beloved Lithuanian musical duo Irūna Puzaraitė-Čepononienė and Marius Jampolskis have disappointed fans with the cancellation of an upcoming concert. The performance, scheduled for March 7th at the Kybartų Cultural Centre, will no longer capture place, marking a setback for their ongoing jubilee tour.
The cancellation stems from insufficient ticket sales, according to an announcement made by the Kybartų Cultural Centre on their Facebook page. The duo, known for their theatrical performances and diverse repertoire, were slated to perform just before International Women’s Day. This concert was part of a larger tour celebrating their 15 years together, but unfortunately, interest in the Kybartai show didn’t meet expectations.
“Due to low interest, the concert is CANCELED. For refunds on tickets purchased at the Kybartų Cultural Centre, please visit the centre. Those who purchased tickets online should fill out this form for a refund,” the Kybartų Cultural Centre stated in their online announcement.
Irūna Puzaraitė and Marius Jampolskis have a significant following in Lithuania and their performances are typically highly anticipated. The pair are recognized as the only duo to have won the title of “best duet” on the show “Žvaigždžių duetai” (Star Duets). Their concerts are known for their festive atmosphere, incorporating musical performances and elaborate costumes.
The cancellation highlights the challenges faced by performing artists in attracting audiences, even for established acts. Whereas the duo continues their jubilee tour with other scheduled performances, this particular event fell short of the necessary ticket sales to proceed. Fans who had purchased tickets are now being directed to the appropriate channels for refunds, either directly at the Kybartų Cultural Centre or through an online form.
This isn’t the first time the duo has been the subject of public attention. Over the years, speculation about a romantic relationship between Irūna and Marius has persisted, a topic Marius Jampolskis has addressed, characterizing the inquiries as a compliment. More recently, a playful interaction between the two during a concert went viral on TikTok, garnering nearly 63,000 views in less than a day.
As the duo continues their tour, fans will be watching to witness how they navigate the challenges of the current entertainment landscape. The cancellation serves as a reminder of the importance of audience support for live performances.
