Tucson, Arizona – Savannah Guthrie, the co-host of NBC’s Today show, announced Tuesday that her family is offering a reward of up to $1 million for information leading to the location of her mother, Nancy Guthrie, who has been missing since February 1.
In a four-minute video posted to Instagram, Guthrie acknowledged the possibility that her 84-year-old mother may be deceased, but emphasized the family’s continued hope for her safe return. “If Nancy Guthrie has died, she said, the family still needs to know where she is,” according to a report from USA Today.
The reward is being offered in addition to a $100,000 reward already offered by the FBI, bringing the total potential reward to $1.1 million. Guthrie urged anyone with information, no matter how small, to come forward. “Tell what you know, and help us bring our beloved mum home so that we can either celebrate a glorious, miraculous homecoming, or celebrate the beautiful, brave and courageous and noble life that she has lived,” she stated in the video.
Nancy Guthrie was reportedly taken from her home north of Tucson in the early morning hours of February 1. The abduction occurred “in the dark of night from her bed,” as described by Guthrie in her Instagram post. The FBI and the Pima County Sheriff’s Department have been investigating the case and have received “tens of thousands of tips,” but have yet to announce any significant breakthroughs.
A key piece of evidence released by investigators is 44 seconds of doorbell camera footage showing a masked and armed individual approaching Nancy Guthrie’s home shortly before her disappearance. Details regarding the suspect’s appearance or vehicle remain limited.
Alongside the increased reward, the Guthrie family is donating $500,000 to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, a non-profit organization dedicated to finding missing children and preventing child sexual exploitation, according to TODAY.com.
Guthrie as well expressed hope that the attention surrounding her mother’s case would extend to other families experiencing the anguish of a missing loved one. “We are hoping that the attention that has been given to our mum and our family will extend to all the families like ours, who are in need,” she said.
According to a timeline published by Fox News, the family has been ruled out as suspects in the disappearance. Investigators are currently pursuing leads related to alleged ransom notes, as reported by the BBC, but details regarding the content or authenticity of those notes have not been publicly released.
As of Tuesday, February 24, 2026, Nancy Guthrie remains missing. The FBI continues to lead the investigation, with assistance from local law enforcement. Officials have not announced any scheduled press conferences or updates regarding the case.
