The new EU travel cost directive brings regarding serious changes in the calculation of truck tolls on motorways and expressways. This is because these provisions, also known as the Eurovignette, allow significantly higher toll rates to be levied than is currently the case. On the one hand, higher surcharges for noise and air pollution are made possible, on the other hand, a large new chunk is added: the CO2 surcharge, i.e. for climate-damaging pollutants.
