Archyde had the pleasure of sitting down with actor B.J. Novak, best known for his role as Ryan Howard in the beloved sitcom “The Office.” Novak was also a scriptwriter and executive producer for the show. Currently, he stars in the Apple TV+ series “Physical” and has several projects in the works. But today, we’re here to discuss his touching tribute to his long-time friend and former colleagues, Mindy kaling, during her Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony.

Archyde: B.J., you delivered such a heartfelt tribute to Mindy at her Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony. Your words really resonated with the audience. how did you prepare for that speech?

BJ Novak: Thank you. I’m glad it came across that way. I mean,it’s Mindy,so the goal was always to make her laugh,as she’s someone who appreciates the humor in things. But I also wanted to genuine and sincere, as that’s what she deserves.I wrote and rewrote it a few times,and spent some time reflecting on all that she’s accomplished,but also on what she means to so many peopel,including me.

Archyde: One of the things that stood out was how you highlighted Mindy’s passion for fame,in a playful way. How do you think fame has shaped her as a person and as a creative force?

BJ Novak: Mindy understands fame on a deep level because she’s very in touch with her own humanity. She knows it can be a captivating part of life, and she’s curious about it, just like anyone else. she’s fascinated by the glitz and glamour, but she also sees through it.It’s that balance, that understanding of the absurdity of fame, that makes her such a compelling artist and a unique individual. She’s not afraid to embrace it, poke fun at it, and use it to her advantage.

Archyde: You’ve known Mindy since your “the Office” days. How have you seen her grow and evolve as an artist and a person over the years?

BJ Novak: Oh, she’s grown tremendously. She’s a fantastic actress, as we all know, but her skills as a writer and producer have really flourished.She’s a powerhouse, creating these amazing shows like “The Mindy Project” and “Never Have I Ever.” As a person, she’s just become more confident, more sure of herself, and more generous with her time and her talents. She’s a fantastic mother, an incredible friend, and an even better person than she was when we started out together.

Archyde: In your tribute, you mentioned that mindy would be on “the walk of friendship” if it existed. What do you think is the key to your enduring friendship with Mindy, even as you both have evolved and grown in your careers?

BJ Novak: The key is that we genuinely like each other. And when you’re friends with someone that you genuinely like and admire, you make time for them, you support them, you’re there for them. Our careers have taken us in different directions, but our friendship has been a steady constant. And I think that’s what makes it special – it’s not just about shared history, but about a mutual respect and affection that keeps us connected.

Archyde: B.J., what do you think is next for Mindy Kaling? What are you most excited to see her do?

BJ Novak: I’m most excited to see her do… well, everything. I think she’s got so much more to give, so many more stories to tell, so many more roles to play. I can’t wait to see what she does next. But mostly, I’m just excited to continue being a part of her journey, as a friend and a fan.
