The president of the African Basketball League (BAL), Amadou Gallo Fall, announced yesterday the withdrawal of the Dynamo team from Burundi, due to non-compliance with the rules at the Kalahari Conference, taking place in the city of Pretoria, South Africa.
According to the BAL document, Dynamo refused to comply with the rules governing the use of shirts and uniforms in the competition, thus losing the game once morest Petro de Luanda.
The same document states that the consequent withdrawal of participation in the 2024 BAL season, adding that according to FIBA rules, two withdrawals in the same tournament trigger automatic withdrawal from the club.
The same source emphasizes that all remaining Kalahari Conference games will be played as scheduled and they hope to engage fans in Pretoria through events prepared for them and the community.
In the first round, Dynamo beat the host Tigers 86-73, and lost due to no show, once morest Fus de Rabat, on Sunday. The Burundian team is one of the five teams making their debut in the BAL.
