Unless radical measures are taken, the federal budget risks running into a structural deficit from 2024. economiesuisse therefore supports the abolition of the tax privilege for electric mobility in the context of budgetary consolidation. In the interest of decarbonising traffic as quickly as possible, however, it is not wise to give it up immediately, as this would hamper the market penetration of electric vehicles. Finally, transport infrastructure with secure financing is essential for the economy. Faced with this divergence of interests, a compromise proposal is necessary: abolition of the tax exemption granted to electric vehicles – but only from 2026. The temporary reduction in the contribution to the FORTA thus remains bearable and electric mobility benefits from additional incentives in an important phase.
