A collision between a barge and a pleasure boat took place on the Albert Canal in Antwerp, firefighters confirmed on Saturday. Two people fell into the water, but were able to be rescued.
Four passengers were on board the pleasure boat, including the two people who fell into the water. One person was saved thanks to the skipper, and the second thanks to the firefighters. The latter was transported to hospital. Navigation was stopped during the rescue operation, but on Saturday evening boat traffic was able to resume. The two boats remain moored on the sides of the canal and the case is being handled by the navigation police.
