Batelli stresses the need to listen to political parties and civil society to agree on a road map

Libya – In the context of his consultations across Libya, the UN envoy to Libya met in Benghazi with representatives of political parties and civil society.

Batelli listened, according to a tweet he posted on the social networking site “Twitter”, to their concerns regarding the political deadlock, their assessment of the challenges facing their country, and their proposals on how to address them to reach a stable and prosperous Libya, through holding inclusive elections.

He stressed the need to listen to political parties, civil society, women, and youth, to agree on a roadmap for the elections that would be implementable.

He stressed that his initiative to establish a high-level team aims to expand the framework of consultations and involve these actors in charting a path leading to the elections this year.
