Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN)– The German club Bayern Munich is on the cusp of signing Dutch defender Matthias de Ligt, coming from Italian club Juventus, during the current summer transfer market.
Press reports indicated that the deal will cost the German champions’ coffers in total 80 million euros ($81 million), and will be for 5 years, until 2027.
And the “Euro Sport” network reported that Juventus had accepted Bayern Munich’s offer and that the player would undergo medical tests later on Monday.
“Matthias de Ligt will fly to Munich in order to undergo medical examinations and sign the contract as a new player at Bayern,” Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano said on his Twitter account.
Fabrizio added: “The deal is valid until June 2027, the two clubs sign the papers today, the value of the deal is 80 million euros.”
De Ligt is considered Bayern Munich’s fourth deal this summer, as the Bavarian had previously announced the recruitment of: Senegalese Sadio Mane, Moroccan Nassir Mazraoui and Dutchman Ryan Gravenberch.
Defender De Ligt is 22 years old and has a contract with Juventus until June 2024.
De Ligt joined Juventus in 2019, coming from Ajax, and played 117 games with the team, scoring 8 goals and making 3 others.
At the international level, De Ligt played 38 caps for the Netherlands national team, during which he scored two goals.
