The Next Generation of Rock Royalty: Sean Lennon & James McCartney Join Forces with Zak Starkey’s Mantra Of The Cosmos
London,UK – June 16,2025 – The legacy of The Beatles continues to resonate through a new collaboration that’s sending ripples through the music world. Sean ono Lennon, son of John Lennon, and James McCartney, son of Paul McCartney, have joined forces with Zak Starkey’s band, Mantra Of The Cosmos, on a forthcoming single titled “Rip Off.” This isn’t a nostalgic recreation of the past, but a bold step forward for a new generation of musical talent.
Zak Starkey, himself a musical heir as the son of Ringo Starr, formed Mantra Of The Cosmos in 2023, assembling a supergroup featuring former Oasis bassist Andy Bell, Happy Mondays’ Shaun Ryder and Mark “Bez” Berry.The band has already demonstrated a knack for attracting high-profile collaborators, recently featuring Noel Gallagher on their track “Domino Bones (Gets Hazardous).”
However, the addition of Lennon and McCartney elevates this project to another level. Starkey was quick to clarify in a recent interview with The Telegraph that “Rip Off” isn’t an attempt to recapture the magic of The Beatles. “It’s like Mantra of the Cosmos with them in it,” he explained.”It’s Sean of the Cosmos and James of the Cosmos, it’s still my band.”
This collaboration comes after Lennon and McCartney previously joined forces on “primrose Hill” in April 2024, a tender acoustic track showcasing their songwriting synergy. While both contributed to the song,James mccartney took the lead on vocals.
