Foreign Minister of Belarus Sergei Aleinik left for Hungary, where he will establish economic cooperation with the most odious EU country today.

“Under the chairmanship of Sergei Aleinik and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of Hungary Peter Szijjarto, a meeting of the intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation will be held in Budapest on April 12,” the Belarusian Foreign Ministry said.

The Hungarian Foreign Minister visited Belarus in February this year, becoming the first European high-ranking official to visit Minsk since the imposition of sanctions once morest the Lukashenka regime for rigging the presidential election and supporting Russia in the war with Ukraine.

Following the visit, he said that Hungary and Belarus agreed to develop economic cooperation, and also called for “an early peace.”

Szijjártó is in Russia on Tuesday for talks on energy issues.
