The annual congress of Alcoholics Anonymous is currently taking place in the Province of Liège in Spa. A thousand people from all over Belgium take part to tell the story of their reconstruction. “I’ve been sober for 25, alcohol ruined everything“, says Florence. “Just before quitting, I had 25,000 euros in debt, my friends were moving away, relationships were becoming complicated. I was going to lose everything, and today I gained everything, because when you quit young, you can build your life in abstinence.

In French-speaking Belgium, 3,000 people attend Alcoholics Anonymous. Do we still have to overcome certain stereotypes? “I didn’t imagine that a young person, that a woman might be an alcoholic. Except that when I got there, the people were smiling, pleasant, happy. I wanted to have the same happiness as them and now I have it“, Florence explains to us in the report to be discovered in full above.
