Benjamin Gischard’s Injury at Swiss Championships: Impact on World Championships and Swiss Team

2023-09-04 14:52:03

Benjamin Gischard will not participate in the world championships in Antwerp from September 30. The Bernese injured his right knee during the Swiss championships this weekend in Glarus.

Gischard (TV Herzogenbuchsee) was injured following a painful exit from his exercise on the rings during the Swiss championships. The first examinations have indeed revealed that the 27-year-old gymnast is suffering from an injury defined as medium to serious in his right knee. He is absent for an indefinite period.

Therefore, the captain of the Swiss team and two-time participant in the Olympics will have to undergo more in-depth examinations. The Swiss men’s team thus loses one of its major assets. The selection commission of the federation will therefore have to designate a replacement for the unfortunate gymnast.
