Bjørn Rune Gjelsten charged after a hunting accident – his wife was hit by hail

In a press release, Gjelsten’s investment company Gjelsten Holding confirms that the couple were involved in the accident.

Local newspaper The Easterner mentioned the matter first.

– In a situation where grouse was felled for an older dog by Bjørn Rune Gjelsten, Solveig Gjelsten was hit by some hail from a long distance, approximately 40-50 metres. Solveig Gjelsten was taken to Ullevål for safety, and has no serious injuries, they write in the press release, which has been sent out on behalf of the couple.

It is further stated that the couple are in dialogue with the police about the accident.

– This is a traumatic experience for the Gjelsten couple, and they do not wish to give further comments to the media related to the incident, the press release states.

According to the police, the wife was hit in both the neck and upper body.

Gjelsten is now charged with careless handling of a firearm and a weapon has been seized. To VG he confirms that it was he who fired the shot.

Duty lawyer Hildegunn Tronsli in the Innlandet police district tells TV 2 that they take the case seriously.

– Necessary investigative steps will be taken, including interviews with the victim when possible, says Tronsli.
