London: Australia’s big offer targeting UK doctors. Junior doctors are lured to Australia by a job advertisement promising a hefty salary.
Advertisement is by Bluegibbon Medical Recruitment. Australia is looking for doctors with experience who can handle dangerous situations. Just work in 10 shifts in a month. The remaining 20 days are for traveling and other activities. The annual salary is $240,000 Australian dollars (Rs 1.3 crore) and accommodation is provided. A sign-in bonus of Rs 2.7 lakh is also offered. The advertisement is published on the British Medical Journal (BMJ) careers website. Writer and former medical specialist Adam K shared the photo of the ad on Twitter.
“How disappointing to see this in the BMJ. It all leads the government to a bigger question. If you don’t address doctors’ fair pay concerns, along with their conditions and well-being, guess where they’re going?” He wrote while sharing the photo. The ad is a reference to Adam Kay, who wrote the best-selling book ‘This Is Going to Hurt’ regarding his harrowing experiences as a junior doctor in the NHS, The Independent reported.
