The Coast Guard made two arrests for two incidents involving the transport of illegal immigrants over the weekend
More specifically, a high-speed boat with 17 migrants (13 men, 3 women and 1 minor) was spotted in the early hours of the morning by a port patrol boat, northwest of Symi.
A 46-year-old foreigner was arrested by the Port Authority, which is conducting the preliminary investigation, as the operator of the speedboat.
In Kos, the second incident – Trafficker handcuffed
As for the second incident, a speedboat with nine migrants (8 men and 1 woman) was spotted on Saturday morning by a patrol boat of the coast guard moving at high speed towards the Psalidi sea area of Kos.
The speedboat operatorin sight of the patrol boat, initially attempted a reversal and moved towards the Turkish coast, while it then stopped.
All the immigrants were transferred to the passenger port of Kos, while a foreigner was arrested by the port authority as a trafficker of the immigrants.
