The first deputy of the King’s Prosecutor of Tournai, Frédéric Bariseau, confirmed that a bomb threat was in progress near the Sainte-Union Educational Center in Tournai, Chaussée de Lille.

For their safety, students and teachers were evacuated to the Sports Hall of the City of Tournai located just opposite the school. “The school administration was informed that a bomb was in the establishment. The students of Sainte-Union were therefore evacuated to the Sports Hall. As a precautionary measure, the students of the Val Itma hotel school, located right next door, were also evacuated,” confirms the mayor of Tournai Paul-Olivier Delannois. The Lille roadway was also closed to traffic during the morning but the situation returned to normal at 11:40 a.m.
