Born in the New Year in the Global Village, eight times | New Year Celebration

Dubai ∙ A remarkable spectacle unfolded in Global Village; New Year’s Eve was heralded not just once or twice, but a full eight times! This unique celebration mirrored the New Year’s commencements across eight nations, with India among them.

The initial gunfire saluted the New Year’s arrival in Australia at 5 pm. This was quickly followed by a vibrant fireworks show alongside Filipino revelers at 8 pm, then Thailand at 9 pm, and Bangladesh at 10 pm.

India’s New Year festivities commenced at 10:30 pm, succeeded by Pakistan at 11 pm, culminating in the UAE’s midnight celebrations. The final gunshot resonated around one in the morning.

This multi-national salute to the New Year also featured Waleef, Global Village’s beloved animated mascot. Waleef’s journey across these nations, sharing in their celebrations, was projected onto the large screens.

A diverse culinary journey was also offered, showcasing dishes from various participating countries along Food Street. The festivities, authorities have confirmed, will extend until January 8th, coinciding with the Russian Christmas celebrations.
