Brazilian Donation of Medicines for Chronic Diseases Received by Lebanese Minister of Public Health

The caretaker Minister of Public Health, Firas Al-Abyad, received from the Brazilian Ambassador to Lebanon, Tarcisio Costa, a donation of medicines for chronic and incurable diseases presented by the Brazilian state and the Lebanese-Brazilian Medical Association, at the central pharmaceutical warehouse in Karantina, in the presence of the warehouse’s head, Maha Naous.

Al-Abyad pointed out that “the Brazilian donation is not the first of its kind, but it was preceded by initiatives and will be followed by others in the near future,” considering that it “comes at an important time in light of the current financial crisis to help patients, especially those who suffer from multiple sclerosis or have undergone kidney transplants.”

He thanked the Brazilian government, parliament, and people, and the Lebanese-Brazilian Medical Association, praising the large Lebanese community in Brazil, “which spares no effort to search for ways to support the health sector in Lebanon.”

He praised “in particular the generous efforts made in this context by the Lebanese Ambassador to Brazil, Carla Jazzar,” stressing that “the Ministry continues to make all its efforts to secure the needs of the Lebanese for medicines.”

He revealed, “Preparing to change hospitalization tariffs at the beginning of the new year, which will make it less expensive for patients.”
