A new date for the 77-year-old Brazilian president’s trip, which has already been delayed by a day due to what his office described as “mild pneumonia,” has not yet been announced.
LILula da Silva’s office added that Chinese authorities had already been informed of the decision.
According to the original plan, he was supposed to leave for China on Saturday.
But doctors suggested he postpone the trip following a re-examination on Saturday.
“Despite his improved health, the president’s doctors have recommended postponing his trip to China,” LILula da Silva’s doctor, Ana Helena Germoglio, said in a government statement.
Just three months into his presidency, he has already visited Argentina and the United States, and this six-day trip to China is believed to be particularly important for Lula da Silva.
His official visit to China was to begin on Tuesday with a meeting with Xi Jinping.
In recent years, LI Lula da Silva’s health has been a cause for concern.
Last November, LI Lula da Silva, who ruled Brazil from 2003 to 2010, underwent surgery to remove changes to his vocal cords.
In 2011, shortly following ending his presidency, he was diagnosed with throat cancer.
