Breaking News: Ceasefire Agreement Ends Azerbaijan-Armenia Conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh

Baku: Azerbaijan and Armenia have reportedly announced a ceasefire to end the two-day conflict in the border region of Nagorno-Karabakh. An agreement was reached between the two countries in this regard on Wednesday. The ceasefire decision was announced by Nagorno-Karabakh regional authorities. The ceasefire came into effect at 1 pm local time on Wednesday.

The two countries agreed to end the conflict through the mediation of the Russian peacekeeping team. As part of the agreement, Armenian military units will withdraw from the area. There is also a decision to disarm local armed groups. No further information is available on the ceasefire agreement.

On Tuesday, the Azerbaijani army launched a fierce attack on Armenian military units in the Nagorno-Karabakh region. Local officials said several people were killed in the attack and many others were injured. Azerbaijan described Tuesday’s attack as an anti-terrorist operation. It also announced that the offensive will continue until the separatist government of Nagorno-Karabakh lays down its arms. On Wednesday morning too, there were explosions in different parts of the city. It was following this that the ceasefire was decided.
