Shots were exchanged in the center of Bruges on Wednesday followingnoon, said the Bruges section of the West Flanders prosecutor’s office. A man was shot and injured during a police intervention.
The incident took place in Geerwijnstraat. Local police were reportedly called due to the presence of an armed man. However, the exact circumstances are not yet clear. The police can, however, confirm that the man was shot during this intervention. He was reportedly seriously injured, but it is not yet known whether his life is in danger.
The prosecution is expected to provide more information later today.
