A few minutes following the 5,000 m world record established by Gudaf Tsegay, Mondo Duplantis in turn made the Eugene public shiver by clearing 6.23 m on the pole, improving his own world record by one centimeter.

The world and Olympic champion achieved this performance on his first attempt, following passing 5.62 m, 5.82 m and 6.02 m.
