Among the complaints received, three complaints each were made once morest the father and brothers. But the Dubai Police received two complaints of harassment once morest women. It is also pointed out that the police provided protection to women in 60 of the reported cases. Out of the complaints received, 27 are cases of physical harm to women. It is also pointed out that 26 are complaints of intolerable abuse, mental torture etc.

Dubai Police has a special unit to receive women’s complaints. In such cases, most attempts are made to resolve the issue through conciliation. On the other hand, in serious complaints like encroachment and physical harm, further steps are taken only following the defendant gives assurance that the mistake will not be repeated in writing. Such a written assurance will be given following both the parties have been given an opportunity to explain their side. The case is moving to the court in a situation where both sides are hardening their positions without any persuasion.
