Visitors should inform themselves in advance and pack cleverly to ensure a smooth entry.
Terrain Planning and Control of Visitor Masses
A secure event requires a detailed terrain plan, including inputs and exits, stages, tents, toilets, catering, and escape routes. Targeted positioning of fences and barriers helps control visitor masses. “At larger festivals, a site plan for the audience is essential,” Gabriel explains. “Visitors should familiarize themselves with the layout, especially the locations of escape routes, emergency exits, and medical stations, as this knowledge can be life-saving.”
High-Demand Areas and Safety Tips
Even with all precautions, certain areas may pose higher risks. “Many fans want to be close to the stage, but this can be dangerous in case of a panic,” Gabriel warns. “It’s advisable to stand a little further back to have more options and avoid being trapped.”
Emergency Response and Communication
Security forces at festivals are responsible for more than just admission checks. They guard emergency exits, patrol backstage areas, and monitor the entire event. “At larger events, all emergency services are connected via radio,” Gabriel says. “Visitors can find a contact person among them who can immediately communicate with the required colleagues.”
Reacting to Dangerous Situations
In case of tumults or violent arguments, visitors should keep their distance and inform crew members. “Don’t play the hero; follow the security personnel’s announcements to minimize any dangers,” Gabriel advises. “Every minute counts during an emergency.”

While accompanied minors can participate, parents should consider the potential risks, such as crowds and high volumes. “Parents should research the event and consider their children’s sensitivity to noise before deciding to attend,” Gabriel suggests.
