Yesterday, American media reported that singer Brian Wilson is suffering from “dementia,” noting that his family wants to place him under the guardianship of his business managers, following the recent death of his wife.

His manager, Jane Sievers, explained in an interview with the New York Times: “The 81-year-old musician was diagnosed with dementia.”

Sievers is supposed to become his guardian with Leanne Hard, according to a statement posted on Instagram.

The statement explained, “This decision was made following the death of his wife, Melinda Wilson, in January, and following consultations between Brian, his seven children, and his doctors.”

This guardianship must still be approved by a judge. Wilson’s family filed a request this week in a Los Angeles court.

Court documents – submitted by the family and reported by American media – indicated that Wilson suffers from a “major neurocognitive disorder and is unable to meet his physical health needs.”
