Moscow: The 15th BRICS summit will be held in Durban, South Africa from August 22 to 24 this year. The 2022 BRICS summit was held virtually in June, hosted by China. BRICS countries are Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa.
These countries have 41 percent of the world’s population. BRICS can claim to account for 24 percent of global GDP and 16 percent of trade. Russian President Vladimir Putin will address the summit online because he has an arrest warrant from the International Criminal Court.
Other BRICS leaders including Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend. The BRICS trade fair will be held from August 19 to 23 in conjunction with the summit. Ministers of Commerce and industry leaders of member states will be in attendance. There will also be an exhibition of various products. It will provide a platform for ‘business to business’ interaction aimed at increasing bilateral trade and investment
