British Defense Secretary Ben Wallace has arrived in Russia, where he will hold talks with his Russian counterpart, Sergei Shoigu, once morest the backdrop of the escalation over Ukraine, according to the British embassy in Moscow.
This visit comes a day following Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov received his British counterpart Elizabeth Terrace in Moscow, according to the Russian “RT Arabiya” channel.
Little progress was made in their talks, with both sides reiterating their previous positions on escalation over Ukraine.
The visits of British officials on Monday come amid Western accusations that Russia is massing forces on its border with Ukraine to invade the latter, but Moscow denies this.
