Irregular migration is “a European challenge, we have to solve it at a European level,” said EU Commission chief Ursula von der Leyen on Sunday during a visit to the island of Lampedusa together with Italy’s Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. Von der Leyen presented a ten-point EU action plan. Among other things, the EU border protection agency Frontex should support Italy more actively in registering migrants.
