Brussels-Midi Station Crackdown: 28 Arrested in Crime Control Operations to Improve Safety and Quality of Life

A total of 28 people were arrested during control operations carried out in and around Brussels-Midi station on Thursday followingnoon and evening. 17 legal proceedings were initiated, in particular for theft, possession of prohibited weapons, false documents and possession of narcotics, and an agent of the Brussels-Midi local police was injured by a suspect who behaved badly.

Last Saturday, a large-scale control operation had already taken place in and around the Gare du Midi. 56 people had been arrested. This police action followed the federal government’s announcement of measures to improve the quality of life and safety at the station. Indeed, in recent weeks, several stories have been published regarding nuisance and crime in the vicinity of the station.
