Christian Karlassare, Bishop of Rumbek Diocese in South Sudan, said that if we are not capable of change, repentance, respect for humanity, looking back and community building, we cannot establish peace, there will be no peace.

He said this in an interview granted to the Vatican’s news department in the context of the visit of Cardinal Pietro Parolin, the Vatican State Treasurer, to the dioceses of Malakal and Rumbek in South Sudan from August 14 to 17 (14-17/08/23).

Bishop Christian says that Sudan is a country where fear is entrenched as a result of the heavy impact of long-term conflicts and attacks, so when talking regarding dialogue, what is needed there is talk regarding eliminating all negative issues, injustice and violence.

He adds that solidarity, forgiveness and willingness to change are essential today, and the words ‘effort’ and ‘organization’ to move from words to action should be added to the word dialogue.
